The “Festival of Lights” is free and open to the public, and you are invited to enjoy thousands of dazzling illuminations throughout the resort.The “Festival of Lights” begins Thanksgiving weekend on Friday, Nov. 24 and remains up through Blowing Rock WinterFest till Sunday, January 28, 2018. The displays illuminate at dusk each evening.

Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season at the Jones House with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting!Starting at 5:45 PM, the Watauga High School Honors Choir and the Women's Chamber will perform a medley of holiday music on the Jones House porch.Following their performance, Mayor Rennie Brantz and Town Council members will officially begin the holiday season in Boone by lighting the Jones House Christmas Tree at 6:30 PM with the help of the Appalachian State Sustainable Energy Society.At 6:45 PM, Split Rail Records, Appalachian State's student-run record label, will host the Christhanakwanzika singer-songwriter showcase in the Mazie Jones Gallery featuring Jack Marion, Mairead Wyatt, Logan Hefner, and the High Country Jazz Collective.

This annual Appalachian Christmas Concert is a gift to the people of the High County in and around Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. We celebrate the giving spirit of Mountain Home Music's founder, Joe Shannon, to wind up our 25th Anniversary Season in honor of Joe's vision for preserving our traditional mountain music, singing, dancing and storytelling. The performers all donate their talents to present this JSMHM special holiday concert that serves as a fundraiser for two worthy non-profit charities - The Hospitality House and Santa's Toy Box.

A New Year’s Eve celebration mountain style! The general public is invited, free of charge, to an alpine torch light parade at 11:45 p.m. and the fireworks show at midnight. A fee, as well reservations for the indoor festivities from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. featuring live music by The Rockabilly's, are required and should be made by calling 828-898-4521 x261.
